Warranty Abuse

If you have a warranty claim, then please get in touch immediately. We look at 99.9% of all warranty claims. The vast majority of people are good, however, there is always the 1% that ruins it for the other 99%. We will bend over backwards to help and accommodate genuine claims. We are a straight talking small business. However, what we won’t tolerate is people who try to “game the system” to abuse it.

An example that we and other repair businesses have seen over recent years is this: A screen repair has gone through fine, no issues on testing. The customer gets it back and they say all is fine and the screen works fine. Then after a few days the customer will claims that the fan or the battery or something else is causing issues because of the screen. As a business, we have to hear out every claim. So, we will respond by asking the customer to send us the machine immediately or get in touch ASAP so that we can look. However, at this point the customer won’t respond, and won't send it. In many cases the customer will ignore the email but the intention has been achieved - because now a case is open, as they can say they had reported the issue. At some point in the future, in 6 months time or a year later, something will probably happen to that laptop, like the fan getting clogged up, or the battery stops functioning. Now, the customer will claim it because of the screen being replaced. It will not matter that it defies the laws of physics and that things go wrong with electronic devices over time. They will claim it.

As a small business, we are between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, if we call out what they are doing, they will get angry and defensive. If we don’t, then we are setting up ourselves for abuse. Small businesses cannot absorb that kind of loss or abuse. So, we have to turn the customer down as politely as possible - which is very frustrating.

We would have helped them even if it wasn’t under warranty. Had they been straight with us? When someone tries to manipulate and abuse the system, it destroys any goodwill we would have had.

Warranty Claim

Please complete the form below to make a warranty claim. We will advise you on the next steps once we receive the completed form. Please allow us up to 72 hours to respond (excluding weekends). Please also note, all warranty is RTB (Return to Base). This is fairly standard with almost every repair service, including companies like Apple.

If you make a warranty claim, and we ask you to send it in, then you need to send it in to us immediately or within 10 working days. If it is a genuine claim, then most customers would send it immediately. They wouldn’t even wait a week. However, we give you 10 days to send it in. You cannot wait a month or 6 months before responding. There are many reasons for this, including the fact that you could damage the device further in that period. Thank you.
